Roll Forming Alignment
DON’T LET YOUR MILL GET OUT OF SIGHT
Roll tooling is generally manufactured to a
tolerance of .001” or better. This accuracy is held because
of the importance between the mating upper and lower rolls
and the cross-section being formed. There is little room
for error, when roll forming a welded tube or non-welded
profile; particularly when running light-gauge metal. A
stack-up or alignment error of <5% can cause a number of
defects to the finished product. What is worse is that many
of these defects are difficult to trace to the source,
because there may only be slight alignment issues in
multiple locations.
Proper mill shoulder alignment is absolutely critical in
producing quality profiles, with consistency and
repeatability. Roll-Kraft understands this and makes this a
main talking point in all of our training seminars and
customer visits.
Roll-Kraft has developed and perfected a Roll
Forming Mill alignment program and has conducted
hundreds of on-site mill alignments with excellent results.
Our process is done in a step-by-step fashion that will
uncover other potential problems, such as bent shafts,
spindle run-out, damaged bearing blocks, bearings, or mill
stands, etc.
In addition to mill alignment, our service can also include
other components of the line, such as punch presses,
uncoilers, weld boxes, and cut-off presses.
